Loving Your Neighbour...

I'm sitting at the drivers corner in an exquisite taxi, AC cooling, sweet calm music in the background, relaxing mobile atmosphere, as I drive past some hawkers along Osbourne road, Ikoyi. I see them looking so stressed and tired and I really pity them. I'm so tired as well, mentally drained with slight dark circles underneath my eyes. But these people, they are physically drained, dehydrated and I'm sure at some point sighed as to why nature has been unfair to them, as to why they have to live their lives running amidst moving vehicles. If I had more than I do, I would have dashed as much money as I could to any hawker who was very close to my vehicle.
I feel bad that our economy isn't working as much and as fast as it should have. The suffering is too much,*sighs*

Thinking back, I remember the house help we used to have, she would scrub, wash, cook, clean, do all housework and still have time to read her books at the wee of the night. I'm sure most house helps now do much more, a lot of burden falls on them and it's not easy at all, I must confess.

Back to traffic, I'm now checking out drivers, how stiff their necks seem to look, (hope they don't have a major neck strain), their eyes weary and full of tiredness, in anticipation of calling it a day, (hopefully, they don't doze off on the steering), their bosses sitted comfortably behind, some even sleeping, not minding the situation.

Most of the people in our population are made up of such people, low income earners, support staff, the masses. And then we have people who they work for, people like you. My question is, are their efforts appreciated by you? Do you acknowledge them? I once saw a young lady slap her driver, when she knew she couldn't drive; he got down, handed her the key and walked away,while she stood dumbfounded!
If you don't appreciate and respect all those who aren't as lucky as you, you should start to show some love now.
