Unsexist...

It was a cool evening and the day was good. It only made sense to end it at the beachside, against the cool breeze with a glass of sex on the beach. So far it was so good, until two men came over to where I was seated. "Can we join you" "Sure, why not". They kept chitchatting and I could feel their eyes piercing my skin. I wondered what they were talking about because they murmured under their breaths. Finally they spoke. "Did you come alone, hope you are not bored?" "No I was invited by a friend, he'll be here in a minute" "Okay, that's good, because a fine girl like you should not come here alone"

I assumed in my mind that I didn't hear them, rather I was swayed by the sweet sea breeze, listening to the gentle crashing of the waves, feeling the fine sand beneath my feet, it was bliss. I was still drifting into nirvana when suddenly I was forced to reality thanks to their discussion. "So is he married now?" "He's not oh" " Wait, didn't he just clock 50? Does he want to be struggling with his waist to run around and catch his kids when they are playing " "Don't mind him, he's still there speaking English, forming young papas" Where they just talking about a man who was unmarried? I thought it was a man's world? I thought polygamy was accepted in this part of the world and a man could marry as much women as he wants at any age. Oh, I thought the biological clock of a man never diminishes. I thought women were the target after clocking 30 and being unmarried. Did two men just gossip and dissect a fellow man infront of me? Wait, I thought gossip was a feminine trait!

Their body language became unruly and they kept chipping in on how the boy who was coming to meet me up was quite lucky, and how they couldn't wait to see him and tell him so. Was I sitting with 2 grown women in men's bodies?

After a while, my friend didn't show up and he sent me a WhatsApp message explaining that he was going to be slightly late. I had to wait, I guess I wasn't the only one waiting for him lol! He came over and all I could see were beams of laughter from the men, like Aunties that were inspecting a potential suitor.

The craze around marriage is certainly not targeted at only the female folk, especially in recent times, so ladies take a chill pill and enjoy the paradigm shift!
