Expensive Sh*t!

Sometimes you just want to spoil yourself after being on a thrift-habit spree, due to some form of commitment, project or anything that requires you to save up, or maybe you simply just feel like adding something valuable to your possessions. Whatever the case, some items can be out rightly expensive!

I was supposed to make a trip one time to another state away from Lagos and i realized while packing my luggage, that my charcoal black pencil was out, like totally. Every makeup girl like me knows that lining of the eyes is optimum (ask Kim Kardashian, lol), so i decided to just buy one from a makeup store in the airport. On getting there i hurriedly asked the attendant for the eye pencil and the price. Somewhere in my 'thalamic' mind, i was expecting to hear N1,500 max (that one sef dey). " The price is N3,500 only". "Really?" I stylishly said, with a concealed emotion of shock and disbelief.
I pondered if that price was for just an eye pencil or the whole box!. I was about blurting that out, but i noticed that as i entered the shop, everyone was beaming with smiles at me and i was given special attention and for that i didn't want to 'fall my hand'. So i grudgingly brought out the money from my purse with invisible tears rolling down my cheeks. All i was thinking about was how a B.Sc holder in Economics, like me, was in this, lol. I took the pencil and stormed out with a stern look. My pacifier was that the pencil gave me the effect i wanted at the end of the day, but yeah i could have gotten a good eye pencil for cheaper, on normal circumstances, at N100, yes!

Then another time i took an online cab, though i booked via a friend's phone before we parted ways. She had a car and drove to her own direction, while i boarded the cab to mine. She was apparently able to see the route via her phone as the trip was booked on her phone. I was charged a ridiculously large amount of money at the end of the trip as on her map, it showed that we plied Ikeja, then Ikorodu road, then got to Yaba and then started approaching Third Mainland! Please my people, from Ikeja to Lekki via Third Mainland and not Ikorodu road, how much? Abi how did the online cab driver manage to pull that off?

I remember going to a restaurant in one of the high brow areas. I was pretty famished and so i decided to stop by. I had already braced myself to spend at most N5,000, after all it was just me. You know how all the foods on the menu that make sense are purposely pricey and all the "make i just chop" isn't. Well i ate something filling and delicious i must say and by the time the bill came, i froze on my chair. I had exactly N7,000 with me and my ATM card. Thank goodness they operated a cashless business and thank goodness more that i took along my ATM card along with me, i for wash plate, mop floor, carry dustbin outside.

Have you ever found yourself buying something pretty and ridiculously expensive compared to its original worth?
